Oil absorbent pad: usage and selection guide

Learn when oil absorbent pads are suitable, which problems they solve and how to combine them with absorbent socks, booms, pillows and kits.

Guide summary
  • The white line is suitable for oil, diesel, gasoline and lubricants.
  • Can be used on floors, benches, machinery and surfaces with oil on water.
  • Works best when the leak is already contained or localized.
  • Can be included in company environmental response kits.

What is an oil absorbent pad?

An oil absorbent pad is a flat industrial absorbent used to collect oil and petroleum products on floors, benches, equipment and maintenance areas and, depending on the line, on surfaces where water is present.

In the white line, the material is suitable for hydrocarbons such as lubricating oil, diesel, gasoline and petroleum products.

  • Lightweight and easy to position.
  • Good for localized leaks and splashes.
  • Helps reduce cleaning time and exposure of the contaminated floor.

When to use absorbent pads

Use pads when the liquid is on a flat area, around machinery, on a bench, under drip points or after containing the leak with absorbent socks.

If the liquid is flowing toward drains or channels, first contain it with absorbent socks; then apply pads to absorb it.

  • Oil changes and maintenance.
  • Lubrication points.
  • Small and medium spills.
  • Preventive floor protection.

When a pad alone is not enough

Pads absorb, but they do not replace containment when a leak is spreading. In water, along banks or over larger perimeters, absorbent booms and socks may be needed before final absorption.

For concentrated volumes under machinery or piping, an absorbent pillow may be more suitable than a flat pad.

  • Use absorbent socks to surround the spill.
  • Use absorbent booms in water.
  • Use absorbent pillows for concentrated dripping.
  • Use a kit when you need a complete response.

Oil absorbent pad FAQ

1

Does an oil absorbent pad absorb water?
The white line pad is suitable for oil and petroleum products and repels water, which helps in hydrocarbon applications.

2

Can I use pads for diesel and gasoline?
Yes, for diesel, gasoline, oil and lubricants, the white line is the primary recommendation.

3

Can a pad replace an absorbent sock?
No. The pad absorbs; the sock helps contain and define the leak perimeter before final absorption.
